NFT Has Been Trending for 12 Months

NFT has been chosen as the word of the year by Collins Dictionary. According to the report, the abbreviation’s use surged by more than 11,000 percent in 2021.

Original versions of popular movies, memes, and tweets are being sold as works of art using NFTs, on the blockchain. From the Charlie Bit My Finger video to the Harambe the Gorilla shot, NFT sales have made some people tremendously wealthy this year.

According to Collins Dictionary’s Alex Beecroft, such a rapid surge in abbreviation usage is “unusual.” Collins list includes three technology-related terms: “crypto,” and “metaverse,” which refers to a three-dimensional virtual world.
