Social Media Giants Introduce Cryptocurrency to the Platform
Twitter intends to provide BTC lightning payments as well as a non-fungible token (NFT) authenticator. Twitter has announced the addition of a tipping feature to its iOS app. The third-party tipping service will be linked to the social networking site. Users will also be able to add bitcoin addresses and make payments in bitcoin. According to the publication, the social media network would also employ a non-fungible token (NFT) verification method. The feature is intended to assist a popular and fast growing trend in the cryptocurrency industry. The NFT feature is currently in development, with no specific release dates given.
According to the press release, Twitter’s “Tips” service will launch today for iOS devices, with an Android version following soon. Twitter’s “Tips” service will leverage third-party payment processors like the Strike App. Twitter has stated that it will not directly handle any funds and will not charge a fee for any payments made on the platform. The ability to tip in bitcoin is a key takeaway from the “Tips” service’s launch. According to Esther Crawford, a member of Twitter’s Product team, BTC will be available as a tipping option for all Twitter users throughout the world.
“We have this amazing opportunity to choose globally accessible, barrier-free solutions, and Bitcoin is one of the better options,” Crawford continued. We recognise that not everyone in the world uses bitcoin now, but we believe it is one of the best options.”
